Of my high school’s graduating class of 2009, I’m one of the only people going to my college of choice (probably the only one attending that college from my high school). What this means is that there probably won’t be many familiar faces when the fall term starts. And to be completely honest, that doesn’t scare me at all.   What I do fear (just a little bit) is that I’ll lose touch with the friends I’ve made during high school. It occurred to me that after a year or so, both geographically and emotionally, I just won’t be as close to my high school friends, some of whom I’ve known since middle school. Thanks to Facebook and email and other technologies, I can keep in touch with them, but hanging out in person isn’t the same as hanging out online.   On the bright side, I’ll be meeting new friends as well. Maybe I’ll find a way to balance the “old” life with the new.   -Allyson
