School is either about to begin for many of us (here in the US & Canada) or it’s already begun. It’s always difficult adjusting to that 8 to 2:30/3/4/forever schedule in the first few weeks. Every year in high school it got more and more difficult to adjust from “vacation mode” to “school mode” because I seem to have gotten more and more enthusiastic about summer vacation. As a result, I’m always late to school the first month of the school year, and my brain just doesn’t want to write papers or do homework at this point (yet). But I’m prepared this time around. I hope.
My sleep schedule is definitely weird around summertime, so that’s the first thing I’ve been working on the past few weeks. I always try to get back to sleeping around 9 or 10 pm like I do during the school year, instead of 4 am in the morning during the summer. Getting back into the rhythm of that dreaded thing called homework is another matter altogether. I don’t think I have a formula for that yet, except maybe to just force myself to do my homework no matter how much I wish summer hadn’t ended. – Allyson
