It’s officially August and along with it comes the inevitable countdown to the first day of school. Back-to-school seems to be written anywhere pencils are sold and the television is flooded with commercials of kids trying on clothes. I’m sorry to put a damper on anyone’s dream of an eternal summer, but it’s time for a reality check. Some of us have already been fully aware of the approaching school year mostly because we’ll be entering a brand new experience. New freshman fear the unknown of high school, juniors dread the SAT/ACT, seniors look forward to the end, and college freshman want to start already. Many feelings occur in August due to the incoming school year, and it’s hard to escape, especially when you have to go register at school. Homework, tests, and a whole bunch of stuff we really don’t want to do will once again consume our lives. Enjoy the last couple of weeks of freedom because soon you’ll be hauling around a whole bunch of books. – Ruben
