October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence can encompass a large range of abusive behaviors between two people in an intimate relationship. It can be physical (attacking, sexual abuse, restraining, etc.) or emotional (verbal abuse, intimidation, etc.). The victim can range from males to females or from elders to children; it can be between parents and their children or between romantic partners. There’s a common stereotype that it’s only women who are victims of domestic violence, in reality, it can happen to anyone in an intimate relationship with someone including men, elders, teens, and children. This is an issue that needs to be discovered and addressed as soon as possible as long-term abuse can lead to a variety of consequences for the victims, both physically and emotionally. Although legal actions and intervention efforts are being taken, it is also important for those related either directly or indirectly to the victim to help report cases so that it can be dealt with. Your action can help. For more, please visit http://www.ndvh.org/. – Vivian
