Spring break for college students means being immersed in a large crowd of sun-kissed people wearing as little as possible while surrounding an MTV stage. That scenario, unfortunately, is just another lie television has told me. Yes, a select few do journey south of the border and experience the MTV Spring Break extravaganza, but most others are stranded in a much less glamorous world. With many students feeding all their cash to a university, an MTV-worthy vacation is just not on the agenda. Plus, spring break horror stories cause some parents to deny their college students access to the festivities unless they strap an airbag to their chest. The reality for most college students today is a trip back home, a week of rest, and some quality time with friends. Unless, of course, the university you attend is on a quarter system so your spring break doesn’t sync up with anyone of your friends that attend other universities, and you have to beg them to miss a class to spend a day with you. I speak from some personal experience if that was not already blatantly obvious, and I’m still a little bitter about it.
