Maybe you’re not someone who is considering leaving home, but you do know someone who is either thinking about it or has already left. They could be a friend or someone in your family. You might not know what to say or what to do when they’re at your doorstep or contacting you in another way to ask for help. If you are in this situation, volunteers and staff at the National Runaway Switchboard’s hot line are there to help you figure out what you can do to help a youth in crisis. By speaking to a crisis line worker, you can figure out a plan to help the youth and also get connected to other resources that will further assist the youth in crisis. Volunteers at the hotline are committed to keeping your call confidential, so what you say in the call will be kept private. Call 1-800-RUNAWAY (1-800-786-2929) to get connected to our services.
