Last Thursday was Thanksgiving and many families probably spent time together at the dinner table or at a family gathering. Even if you didn’t, one must understand the importance of families and friends spending time together. Studies have shown that most runaways end up on the streets because of familial conflicts and problematic family dynamics. Granted, some of them can’t be avoided just by spending more time together, but perhaps some can as the lack of communication will often lead to conflicts. Even amongst friends, if you fail to talk to them for an extended period of time, it is likely that you cannot have conversations as easily as you did before when you were talking to them every week, or every day. With the current social networks like Facebook and MySpace, it may be easy to ignore people in real life, but remember that face-to-face contact is always better than online interactions, regardless of how many emoticons you use, some emotions just don’t get through as well online. ;D
