What desires do you hold dear? Are they progressing you or holding you back. How do we evaluate this? Well do the desires you hold bring you joy or suffering when you accomplish them? This is an important indicator as to if the goals you are working toward are healthy. Do you have the power to accomplish your desires? If you don’t maybe it is time to reconsider having them or maybe altering them so that they are more realistic. I personally want to change the way that the environment is currently. I cannot let every time someone litters or pollutes bother me otherwise I would never feel good because it is happening at every moment of every day at the current time. I must be content with knowing the most powerful change I can make is to show others with my actions what can be accomplished. I can ensure that I don’t litter and that I recycle or compost whenever possible. Another goal of mine is to keep my emotions in line as in the past I have had trouble with anger and depression. So I really have to work on not holding things in and not letting them get to me in the first place. An example of how I have done this is when I see someone litter or be rude or when they just don’t seem to want to pay attention to what is around them. Instead I must focus on the good all around me.
