Who hasn’t done it? Sat down and rattled through the list of every quality you want in a lover and friend, only to realize not only that your friends have come up with the same lists but that you also hate each other for it, because there’s only one person for everyone. What kills me the most is how people hold their own relationships up to the standards of their friends’. Incongruency detected? Of course, why wouldn’t there be! You’re not them, and I think that’s what’s important to realize. Throw stereotypes and perfection aside and live in reality. Only you know what you need, and what you need should be what you want in a relationship, not what you desire, or fantasize about. Fantasy tells you that even in an unsavory relationship it’ll always turn itself around. Reality tells you that if there is an incongruency, it’s in your interests, in the way you get along, in the fundamentals of your relationship. And no matter how ideal this lover and friend is in your mind, not even your tall, dark, and dreary dream can hide that. Who’s with me?
