Self-discovery is an extremely vital phase in the lives of young adults. Self-discovery is the process in which young adults take during their transition from childhood to adult hood. Young adults use the phase of self-discovery, as a time to do many things that will assist with the transformation of their future lifestyle. This valuable time may be used by an individual to better understand him or herself in many ways.During this transition,a young adult may choose to partake in various different experiences. These experiences may include different educational and occupational pathways, various relationships with friends, sexual partners, social groups, and other people such as teachers, supervisors, and parents. Young adults may also experience various opportunities and locations of residency, join or create social groups, and may even engage is activities such as parties, vacations, and recreational events. During this time, maybe sooner, some young adults also tend to inhibit unhealthy habits. These habits may consist of smoking, drinking, partying, gang activity and many more. This is also the time when some young adults across traumatic experiences such as homelessness, abuse, betrayal by friends, and bad relationships.

From personal experience, the transition to adulthood is one of the hardest things I’ve overcome thus far. The major obstacle was learning to understand and take accountability for my responsibilities, versus wanting to remain a teenager and not having too much to worry about. Having responsibilities such as paying for bills, providing for oneself, waking up on time for work and school, finding the finances for transportation, and finding an independent place of residency, are all loads that come with adulthood. It is not always easy to partake in such responsibilities as a young adult. Things may seem easy but can get hard later on down the line. My advice to all young adults is to appreciate the moment of youth while you still have it and don’t rush to become an adult!
