We are too suspicious. We are easily scared. We are not open to a conversation with a stranger. He might kill us, rape us, rob us – we say. But he might just want a smile. In fact, at a bus stop, under the bright daylight when the traffic gets hectic, who would kill, rape and rob us openly on the street? We often project our images of ourselves onto others. We see our blemishes, and lies and facades we wear to deal with the world. We know our own insecurities. We are all yearning for some warmth, but we fear rejection and we do not believe that any human being would be nice to us without getting something back for him/herself. This is a belief stemming from our lack of confidence. When you don’t believe in yourself, you will not be able to believe in others.
