As I progressed through years of education in high school and now in college, I’ve read many books assigned to me by the school within given periods of time. But I realize I haven’t sat down with a good book of my own choosing since elementary school. Personally, I love books because of the worlds they contain and the lives I wish I could lead. And given the proper conditions, it won’t hurt your eyes as much as, say, the computer or the television. However, with the increase in emphasis of technology, the old-fashioned books are getting abandoned by people with video games, television, and phone apps. Must we abandon these good old-fashioned traditional books for new technology even though I’m pretty sure the worlds within the books are just as interesting? Reading will also improve your vocabulary and reading skills which would be beneficial in the long run — unlike video games and most phone apps. So what are you waiting for? Jump into a good book and a wonderful new world!
