When dealing with others we must keep in mind that we do not all think alike. My main point here is to promote competent dealings with others when we have opposing views. The next thing I would like to mention is that humans cannot remove their emotions entirely from their dealings. However, they can choose how to handle them. Often homeless and runaway youth are presented with situations where people judge them or elicit harmful emotion towards them because of their perspective. The key word here is perspective. The key to dealing with others is realizing you will have a different perspective then them and still holding yourself to your own standards. It is hard to do but if they cannot understand where your coming from or the other way around we can still accept the others beliefs and be stay in a respectful state. The tool here is how you process your emotion. If someone has made you angry it is either better to let them know how so that you can work it out or walk away. This way you are keeping your power and respect. Particularly this happens when belief systems and codes of morals/ethics come into the conversation. The last thing I must stress is its better to get out of a situation that is too stressful and come back to it later rather than just letting overwhelm you. With this method you can be more effective in communicating with others.
