Many have trouble dealing with their day-to-day world because they do not know where to set boundaries. I have had this problem myself. I think it is about realizing when some ones actions are not being beneficial to you anymore. When this happens, we need to say something to those who are affecting us in these ways and then establish that they can either not do them, as a stipulation to continue the relationship, or keep on with them and lose the relationship. Either way it is essential to realize what behaviors you are willing to accept in your life and those that you will not. Boundaries include such things as drugs, modes of talking, and even personal space. If you don’t want drugs around you then say so and more importantly follow through in leaving if they refuse to stop while around you. If you can’t handle arguing then make that a stipulation how you need it as well. Any way you look at it boundaries are an important step in setting up meaningful and healthy relationships. If your relationships are bothering you, then perhaps look at what boundaries you have set and reevaluate how they need to change or if the relationship is worth pursuing. As an important conclusion I must add that boundaries apply to all interpersonal relationships i.e. coworkers, lovers, friends, and family.
