We all use categories. They are the nouns that we use. I question the validity of them. If everything is only in a temporary state then how can we use such set terms. More to the point how do we adapt to this knowledge. I think the place we must start is our conception of them. First, we must realize things are not infinite and that they change constantly. Once this is established then we can look into setting that with habituation into our normal mode of thought. Once at this point, one may look at how these categories affect us. Often thinking something is defined by its category has been what has led to false judgment and much cruelty. For example, people put people into categories based on appearance without finding out all the facts. This is like people judging someone for being homeless. They are many times placed into a category of uselessness or less value. This is incorrect to do first because they don’t know all the factors and second because they are assuming the homeless person is subject to their standards and their morals. That is false because everyone has different experience and opinions that shape them. It goes the other way too in that the homeless person thinking the others do not care. They don’t know that for certain just by looking at another person. My main point is that it is dangerous and ignorant to put people into categories, and even to have the categories that we do. Therefore, I ask you; please look at how you are categorizing everything and whether that is valid or worthwhile.
