It seems that our schools and parents are pushing young people to earn A’s, to take Advanced Placement classes, to have high standardized test scores. Unfortunately, such viewpoint forced students to take classwork as assignments needed to be completed so that their parents can be pleased. It takes away students’ ability to enjoy learning as the pursuit to knowledge. It reduces learning to a mean to jobs or college.
In order to succeed in today society, one’s skills, however, are just the requisite factors. Passion on the other hand is what sets one person apart from the whole world. It is what can make a person move above and beyond doing a single task by turning it into a new project. If students and parents keep looking at learning as a mean to a job, the pursuit of knowledge will become another forced, mundane task.
