When the NBA announced the season was back on, I was excited. I’m not a huge fan, but I watch a few games and loosely root for the Bulls. This year, because of the lockout, the season starts with five games on Christmas day. Never mind the fact that Christmas, a Sunday, also plays host to a bunch of football games. I’m used to Thanksgiving and football, but Christmas being tied with sports seems a bit different. I don’t celebrate Christmas, so it’s not a big deal to me, but do most families want to spend 12 hours watching athletes on one of the most important holidays of the year? I don’t doubt that a ton of people will tune in, but I hope it’s something everyone in the house does together. It might sound dreamy, but I think holidays are about more than fun – they’re about togetherness. So by all means watch the Bulls trounce the Lakers – just do it with your family.
