Only if you’re driving though. On Tuesday, all states were urged by the National Transportation Safety Board to ban all cellphone usage while driving except for emergencies and implement stronger enforcement — even hands free devices would be banned if the recommendation was implemented fully. This recommendation was made based on the increased number of serious accidents relating to cell phone usage despite the bans that are already in place for some states for texting while driving or cell phone usage for beginning drivers. Many of the current bans have not really been enforced and thus have continued to cause many problems and accidents. Cell phones have become so integrated into our lives, we often use them even when it may not necessarily be appropriate, like while driving. Personally, I favor this ban. Yes, they are important in keeping us connected to our friends and family, but what’s the use of trying to stay connected when you’re failing in trying to stay alive?
