When I am overwhelmed, I listen to all the noise, whether environmental, emotional, or just thoughts. This helps me not to be talking over these things in a manner of speaking. I think that it is of the upmost importance to listen, especially when I feel overwhelmed. Partly this helps me to take a step back and examine the situtation in a more clear mindstate. As well, I believe that all of our uncomfortable emotions are there to tell us something needs to be changed. Without listening to these uncomfortable feelings and taking the time to really understand their message, how is one to know what to change and enact said change? My proposition is that we cannot fully and purposefully make these changes whith out listening to our innermost cores. I know it can be difficult to learn how to listen. Sometimes the old cliche makes sense. I mean to say listen before you talk. I mean to extend this to listen before you act. Listen to your instincts and reason. You maybe surprised at the level of clarity just a few moments of pure listening can induce.
