That morning was a quiet one; no one spoke at the table. I was silent and ate my breakfast slowly as I was remembering all that had happened. It was a long fight against it, but sadly my mom lost. The doctor said she’s better now so it’s alright, I know she’s not hurting anymore and that helps. I sat there next to her day and night, she was strong and I miss her. The battle against cancer isn’t easy, it spreads around the body like crazy and it’s a very strong killer. I’m going to miss her greatly, it hurt me to say good-bye, and now that the funeral is coming up I don’t think I can do it. She was such a strong and brave woman, but it was her time to go, and one day I’ll see her again. There are many kinds of cancer and each is equally devastating in every family. If you know someone who is suffering from cancer weather male or female, make sure they are getting the right support. There are resources available for every person in need so make sure you help them even just by giving moral support. Every little detail matters, as there are battles that are won there are also some that are lost, and together we can all help each other no matter the outcome. Being a teen and having to deal with a family member with cancer isn’t easy, but you’re not alone.
