In the last post, I discussed the impact the media had on individuals and teens in particular. As more and more details are released about the Aurora movie theater shooter, many people are left wondering why he committed such a heinous act. There is now speculation that his behavior may have been influenced by the “The Dark Knight Returns” comic book released in 1986. There are striking similarities between the comic book scene and the real life horror. The possible influence of the media on tragedies like these tends to become the center of debates on whether certain video games, movies, comic books, etc. should have tougher restrictions or banned all together. Do you think tragedies like this would still occur if the government banned and imposed tougher restrictions on the content publishers and production companies could release?
