Teen years can be an amazing journey of enrichment, growth, creating & building relationships, learning how to maintain these relationships, self identification, and exploration. That journey, like many other experiences, can become challenging when you are not equipped with the right tools, like a support system. These are the years that you may make more mistakes than ever, but knowing that you have someone who loves you unconditionally is reassuring when you feel like you have made the worst mistake of your life. The process of trying to figure out who I am is made a lot easier when knowing that you have someone who respects and supports you as an individual no matter what.

Do you know of an individual who only wants what is best for you and will give you honesty even if you don’t want it? If you have an individual like those mentioned above in your life, consider yourself lucky, fortunate, blessed, and privileged. Many people are not as fortunate. They don’t have a listening ear or aren’t offered words of encouragement when their world seems to be falling apart. It is important to be able to identify individuals who will provide support and not take advantage of you when you are in need. Whether that individual is a friend, sibling, cousin, parent, counselor, pastor, neighbor, whomever, it’s necessary to know where you can turn to. If you cannot identify such persons, remember you can always give us a call at 1-800-RUNAWAY (1-800-786-2929). We can become that listening ear, offer some words of encouragement, and try to help you locate support services.
