It may be very difficult and frustrating to feel like your parents are being unfair. I want you to know that you’re not alone.

My Parents are being Unfair - National Runaway Safeline

My Parents Are Being Unfair. What Can I Do?

Being a teen can be tough business. As a teen you may feel like the world is against you and you have been given parents who just don’t understand. It may seem like no matter what you do right it is somehow seen as wrong in your parents’ eyes. It might even seem that your parents are always on a side that is not yours. Sometimes it seems like your parents’ jobs are to play devil’s advocate to every opinion you have. It may be very difficult and frustrating to feel like your parents aren’t on your side.

I want you to know that you’re not alone. Surprisingly, a lot of teens (and even adults) feel that their parents aren’t always on their side.

But when you feel annoyed or overwhelmed, it may not matter that other people have parents that just don’t get it. That’s where we come in. Remember, the National Runaway Safeline has a listening ear and is just a phone call away at 1-800-RUNAWAY (1-800-786-2929), or online by email or through our online chat at 1800RUNAWAY.org.
