Have you said those words before? Do things at home seem too…

Have you said those words before? Do things at home seem too unbearable? Does running away seem like your only option?

There are many youth who runs away daily because they feel like running is the only option. It is hard to assess everyone’s individual situation and to say if running away is the right or wrong thing to do. Sometimes the best people to know if running away is your best option is you and/or close friends or people who knows your situation personally.

If you are considering leaving, have you thought about safe planning? Safe planning can include making sure you have somewhere safe (i.e. friend, shelter) to go before you leave, you are wearing the proper attire, or food options are available. Living on the streets as a teen can be very dangerous and make you a target to become a victim.

If there is someone you feel comfortable speaking to, you can discuss alternatives or safe housing options. Remember you can always call us at the National Runaway Safeline if you are need of someone to speak with.

i just turned 15 on december 25. I have wanted to move out since age 13. but i have no where to live, i am bi-polar and have depression. My parents always fight & it stresses me out, but most of all they always yell at me and sometimes i understand its my fault, but i cant stay here much longer, because i feel like im trapped & like im going to loose my mind. My parents love me, they say at least, but this home is not a good place for a teenager with Depression and Bi-polar disorder. It causes me to have bad thoughts, and it causes me to always see running away as a last resort, im in the process of finding a place elsewhere to live right now. But if not, im considering running away. but with no where to go. please help me figure something out
