If your boyfriend or girlfriend us thinking of leaving, you…

If your boyfriend or girlfriend us thinking of leaving, you might want to go too so they’re not alone, or because you both have more money saved up then they do by themselves. You’d have way more freedom, and not have the problems you have now at home.

But sometimes running away is a temporary fix rather than permanent solution. Running away can lead to a string unforeseen events which are often times out of your control.

While the National Runaway Safeline is not here to tell you to leave or stay, we are here to promote safety and to make sure you are aware of your options. Resources and options will vary case by case.

Here is a list of questions to consider:

What else can I do to improve my home situation before I leave?

What would make me stay at home?

How will I survive?

Is running away safe?

Who can I count on to help me?

Am I being realistic?

Have I given this enough thought?

What are my other options?

If I end up in trouble, who will I call?

When I return home, what will happen?

Sometimes it’s best to discuss your situation with others. You can reach out to us 24/7 on our 1-800-RUNAWAY hotline (1-800-786-2929) or bulletin boards, or in the evenings on our live chat, to see what type of options are available.
