Did you know that the National Runaway Safeline has a free 14-module educational tool called the Runaway Prevention Curriculum (RPC)? The Let’s Talk: Runaway Prevention Curriculum is an interactive program intended to build life skills, increase knowledge about runaway resources and prevention, educate youth about alternatives to running away, and encourage youth to access and seek help from trusted community members.
The RPC, which is available in both English and Spanish, covers topics such as anger management, stress reduction, drugs and alcohol, communication, family dynamics and the reality of running away. The curriculum is beneficial to many people, but is an especially helpful tool to those folks working with youth in any capacity, including after school programs, shelters, schools, etc. The curriculum can also help youth that are working to educate their peers or are working on a project about one of the topics of the curriculum.
The RPC can be ordered from the National Runaway Safeline or downloaded in either language on our website, http://www.1800runaway.org/educators/curriculum/.
