December 21st. First day of winter. Longest night of the year.

It is also National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day observed to remember those who have died without homes. As the National Alliance to End Homelessness explains on their blog (here) this date is set aside to honor those who perish without shelter each winter. Many otherwise claimed in anonymity as John and Jane Doe.
