Music artist and civil rights activist Cyndi Lauper flips the switch green for National Runaway Prevention Month.
On Thursday, November 4, 2010, the Empire State Building in New York City was lit green in honor of November's National Runaway Prevention Month (NRPM). The New York Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) Commissioner Jeanne B. Mullgrav, together with artist and civil rights advocate Cyndi Lauper, the National Runaway Switchboard, and the MAC Aids Fund took part in a lighting ceremony at the Empire State Building. As the ceremony took place, NRS' New York Street Team members passed out light bulbs to passers-by on 5th Avenue.
