11th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner
Chicago Cubs volunteer for the eleventh annual Thanksgiving Dinner to feed homeless youth.
On November 23rd the National Runaway Switchboard (NRS) hosted the eleventh annual Thanksgiving Dinner, sponsored by Cubs Care Foundation, held at St. Luke's Church in Chicago. NRS staff and 40 Chicago Cubs volunteers served local homeless youth a traditional thanksgiving meal.
Activities for the evening included entertainment by Spoken Word group Kuumba Lynx, photo activities for the youth, and a special appearance by congregational represent Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL), Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), and Alderman Thomas Tunney. The youth received backpacks that included school supplies, hygiene supplies, socks, under garments, clothes, a McDonald's gift card, and a one-day pass for the CTA.
