Chicago Cubs volunteers serve a Thanksgiving meal to local homeless youth

The National Runaway Switchboard held the twelfth annual Thanksgiving Dinner, sponsored by Chicago Cubs Care, at St. Luke's Church in Chicago. This year's dinner welcomed the largest group of attendees in its history, including an inspiring ninety-five youth from participating organizations. NRS staff and thirty-five Cubs volunteers set the tables and served the attendees a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.

Alderman Thomas Tunney, Cubs president of Business Operations, Crane Kenney, and Cubs Senior Vice President Community Affairs/General Counsel Mike Lufrano took part in the evening, both working in the kitchen and chatting with youth while they ate. A photo station was available for guests to take pictures to keep as a memento of the occasion.

Special guest Will Bynum of the NBA's Detroit Pistons signed t-shirts and greeted the guests. At the end of the night, youth were given backpacks filled with various hygiene products, towels, Cubs caps, winter hats and gloves, t-shirts, granola bars, McDonald's gift cards, and CTA passes.
