The National Runaway Switchboard (NRS) and other organizations across the country raised awareness of runaway youth in November with the National Runaway Prevention Month (NRPM) 2011, themed Making the Connection.
On November 1st, NRPM kicked off with a social media Day of Action. Community partners across the country participated in an online campaign to raise awareness via Twitter and Facebook. NRS also hosted a kickoff luncheon and the live webcast presentation to present key findings from NRS' Runaway Youth Longitudinal Study, a study spanning 15 years which examines the characteristics of youth who run away from home and the long term impacts into adulthood. The webcast is archived and available for viewing at www.1800RUNAWAY.org.
