| NRS and UCAN announce 2005 Teen Report Card |
 |
The National Runaway Switchboard (NRS) partnered with Uhlich Children's Advantage Network (UCAN) for the second consecutive year in the development and announcement of UCAN's Teen Report Card. An annual event coinciding with the end of the school year, the report card is a survey that allows youth to grade adults on issues that impact the day-to-day lives of young people. Focus groups were also conducted across the country to assemble report card data. Sometimes startling, the results ultimately confirm the need for adults to actively foster an open dialogue with youth. |

With simultaneous press conferences in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, NRS youth volunteers Liz Scholom and Lasun Oladeji participated in the June 17th press conference in Chicago announcing the Teen Report Card results.
Adults earned a D+ for "understanding why teens leave home". The D+, the lowest grade received, is a drop from a C- in 2004.
