It saddens me every time teen bullying makes newspapers’ headlines. It is not ok to bully. Whatever your religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation are, you deserve respect and you should always stand up for your own identity.
Let me tell you a story. Four years ago, I immigrated to America. I was bullied because I could not speak English. But a classmate told me to report it to the school principal and the students who bullied me were suspended from school and eventually moved to another school. If with very little English, I could stand up for myself, so will you.
There is a line from George O’Malley in Greys Anatomy that I really love: “High school sucks for anyone who is the least bit different. But then there’s college, and then out in the real world, you’re going to find where you belong.” You might feel down and think that no one in this world understands you or loves you for who you are. But eventually you will realize that this world is far from just being all about high school. When you are bullied, it is important to talk to your teachers and counselors, or just someone who is close to you.
