Being in foster care is not the easiest thing in the world. Many teens that have grown up with their parents have at least once said, “leave me alone”, “I wish I had different parents”, or “I wish I was in foster care so that I wouldn’t have to deal with my parents”. Whenever I heard my friends speak those statements, all I could do was think, if they only knew.
Life as a foster child was difficult for me. I was always treated differently, I moved around so often that I couldn’t have long-term friends, and I was abused majority of the time spent in foster care. I’ve always had a hard time making friends, and I did not have a “normal” social life. People don’t understand what they are saying when they wish to leave their parents. I wish that people could understand the pain and the hardships of my life.
Even after explaining these things to you I can say that I would not trade my life in for any other because this is the experience that motivates me to move forward and inspires me to want better in life. If I was able, I would thank everyone who ever mistreated me or made life harder for me. You are the reason that I am successful today!
