Here at the National Runaway Switchboard, we understand that experiencing abuse is traumatic. We have supportive crisis line workers who are ready to listen and discuss options with you. If your immediate safety is at risk, we can help and try to locate the nearest safe place. In addition to locating resources, we can call them with you on the line.
Although we are mandated reporters (meaning we have to report any cases of child abuse), the choice is yours as to whether you would like us to file a child abuse report, as long as we don’t receive enough identifying information that would require us to do so. We also understand that filing abuse reports or leaving the home isn’t always an option for everyone. If these options do not fit your situation, we can explore alternatives.
Remember no one should have to endure abuse. Talking to someone who cares is only a phone call, bulletin board post, chat, or email away.
