Do you feel unimportant?

Do you feel unimportant or unloved? Do you think about how worthless you are? That you are no good? That you are not worthy of being loved? These are all thoughts that affect your self-esteem.

What is self-esteem?

Self-esteem can be seen a buffer that protects your emotions from the remnants of harsh outside world. Self-esteem can be described as the way that one’s feels about themselves.

Having a healthy self-esteem is important because it can affect your mental health as well as your behavior. Teens as well as adults experience periods of time where they may have lower or high self-esteems.

Do you feel like people don’t care?

It’s normal to feel this way at times. Having a supportive and healthy relationship with an individual, especially a friend or family member, can help during times like these. And if you don’t have that, it’s okay to reach out to teen hotlines. If you feel like your self-esteem is having a negative effect on your life, it’s important to seek help.
