Throughout the year, you may hear of this month being dedicated to this cause or to that illness. April is a month dedicated to many causes, including sexual assault awareness.
Sexual assault is any type of sexual contact or behavior that happens involuntarily, meaning there is no consent. Whether you’re a victim or a witness of a sexual assault, there is no doubt that both can have long-term negative effects on the individual. The National Sexual Violence Resource Center is sponsoring Sexual Assault Awareness Month with hopes of raising public awareness and educating our communities on how to prevent sexual assault.
