Every September, the National Runaway Safeline (NRS) holds its annual meeting to honor outgoing board members and to welcome new board members.  NRS appreciates the leadership of the newest board alumni: Suzi Cabo, Cindy Campbell, Michele Lehman, Troy McDonald Kane, Robert Speed.  Their governance and generosity has been vital in shaping NRS for continued excellence in service to youth and families in crisis.

New NRS Board Member Jeoffrey ChorvatJeoffrey Chorvat, Naperville, IL resident.  Jeoff is the Director of Human Resources for Exelon Corp., which is a Fortune 100 energy company that has the largest number of utility customers in the US and does business in 48 states and the District of Columbia. Jeoff leads a team of HR professionals who are responsible for the staffing, compensation and performance and talent management, succession planning and change management. His volunteer experience includes Habitat for Humanity, The Garage Youth Community and On Your Feet Foundation, a non-profit group supporting birth mothers after adoption.  Jeoff holds a BS in Marketing from Providence College in Providence, RI and an MS in Organization Development from Villanova University outside of Philadelphia, PA.


New NRS Board Member Jeff FleishmannJeff Fleishmann, Chicago resident. Jeff has been an attorney at AAR Corporation since 2008, where he serves as Lead Counsel in the company’s aviation services group.  Prior to working at AAR, Jeff was an attorney at Goldberg Kohn in Chicago.  Jeff received a BA in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin, and his JD from the University of Memphis.





New NRS Board Member Melanie HillMelanie Hill, Chicago resident. As a Senior Manager at Weber-Stephen Products LLC she is the business leader for Brand Extensions and the iGrill Global business unit with a focus on building the Weber brand and consumer experience. Prior to this role, Melanie served as the Sr. Category Marketing Manager leading the Weber Americas accessory business leveraging her previous brand management experience at Procter & Gamble. Melanie received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Stanford University and MBA from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management.




New NRS Board Member Jeanette Kowalik, PhDJeanette Kowalik, PhD, Washington DC resident, former Chicago resident.  Jeanette is Associate Director of Women’s and Infant Health, Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs.  She is also president and owner of Jael Solutions Consulting Services.  She is an accomplished practitioner, manager and adjunct professor with over 15 years’ experience in public health, academia and non-profit organizations. She’s volunteered with Boys & Girls Clubs and serves on the boards of the US Breastfeeding Committee, and Words, Beats, and Life, Incorporated, a hip-hop arts and education non-profit.  She has a B.S. from the University of WI/ Milwaukee, an MPH in health promotion from Northern IL University, and a PhD in Population Health from UW-WI.

New NRS Board Member Lily Stein

Lily Stein, Chicago Resident.  Lily is a rising senior at Jones College Prep. She has been active in Student Government and served as president of her class. She serves on the board of the 43rd Ward Committeeman, participates in Acting for Change, and is an officer of the Women’s Empowerment Club. She has been a volunteer at NRS since April 2016.





NRS looks forward to Jeoffrey, Jeff, Melanie, Jeanette and Lily continuing to steer the agency in the mission to keep America’s runaway, homeless and at-risk youth safe and off the streets.
