The National Runway Safeline is honored and privileged to have a group of dedicated and generous people on its board of directors. NRS asked board members if they would share their thoughts on why the choose to support NRS and its services.
“For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required; and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”- Luke 12:48
Throughout my life, I have been supported by many people– family and friends, co-workers, educators and mentors. These people have shaped my life and allowed me to succeed. Without their constant help, support, and guidance, I would not be the woman I am today. I realize that I am truly blessed and with that blessing comes a responsibility to help those around me to also succeed.
It is with that train of thought that I joined NRS almost a year ago. My goal was to simply “give back” and support our youth. NRS’ services of providing crisis invention and support for America’s runaway, homeless and at-risk youth struck a chord with me. I truly believe that all children should have the opportunity to feel supported and safe as I had in my youth. The ability to have someone to talk to, provide you with resources, or just listen, can be invaluable to many who are in need. The services NRS provides are important.
We often overlook those in need as we go about the daily tasks of our successful lives. We are swamped with work. We have children that need to be shuffled to camp or school. We are bogged down with errands—getting groceries and items for our house. There were many times where I wanted to volunteer or donate my time but declined due to the restrictions of my schedule.
But I realized that you can never be too busy to support others. It’s your responsibility as a citizen of the world. And thus, I encourage others to support NRS. From financial donations to serving as a hotline volunteer, there are many ways in which you can share your life’s blessings and give to others.
