National Runaway Prevention Month
The National Runaway Safeline leads National Runaway Prevention Month (NRPM), a public awareness campaign designed to “Shine a Light” on the experiences of runaway and homeless youth that too often remain invisible. It is also an opportunity to spotlight the resources available nationwide to support youth experiencing homelessness.
National Runaway Prevention Month is supported by the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), as well as over 100 partner organizations and Youth Ambassadors. Together, we show youth in crisis they are not alone.
In 2020, NRS and our partners hosted creative events, engaged with followers on social media platforms, arranged for landmarks to be lit up in green (the official color of NRPM), secured proclamations and used campaign materials to educate the public about youth homelessness.NRS organized national events, including an educational Twitter Chat, a Lunch and Learn series, roundtable discussion about the importance of prevention programs, Wear Green Day and much more.
